So here is the latest in the mic brigade. It is another U-47-esque inspired design. This time there is no kit all parts are sourced by us. We will start at the top: Thiersch Elektroakustik RED Line M7 capsule, NOS Tesla 1GOhm carbon glass encased resistors, NOS Sprague .01UFD PIO Cap, Phaedrus-Audio VF-14M FET based tube solution, Carbon resistor network, NOS 1UFD PIO Russian Can Capacitors and lastly AMI BV8R Transformer. The body hails from Lithuania and is machined by Aputis. All internals designed and fabricated here at Geosonix Lab. Getting all these large NOS components into a standard U-47 body was a challenge. But worth the effort. The drop-down resistor that is used in the conventional U-47 design to get the filament voltage had to be placed in the PSU as the heat was too much to be dissipated in the conventional manner due to lack of space in the body. The phaedrus-audio VF-14M tube solution is not a tube in the classic sense. It is a well thought out and ruthlessly tested FET based solution that responds identically to the now unobtainium Telefunken VF-14M. Well worth the effort! We will be building these in limited quantities. If interested please contact us! |
